More Nursery Ideas For a Creative Baby Room

Another nursery idea, for an extra cozy feel to the room, remember that fabrics aren't just for curtains and draperies, as they can also be used on the walls instead of paint. Choose a contrasting accent color and attach the fabric to only one wall, and never on a wall near the baby's crib or bed, using either curtain rods hung at the very top of the wall and the very bottom, or with special glue that allows the fabric to stick to the wall and stay firmly in place.

Removable wall stickers are also perfect for decorating a baby's nursery as they can be changed as the child grows and develops their own unique interests without damaging the surface of the wall, or can be quickly moved around when you rearrange the furniture, or even if you simply get tired of the old look.

Using a simple craft knife, some stiff transparent pieces of plastic, and low-tack masking tape you can make your own unique stencils so you aren't limited by the selections in the stores. Just be sure the knife is sharp so that it cuts through the plastic cleanly and evenly without leaving any ragged or uneven edges behind so the finished stencil will look as neat as possible. If the general theme or most common tie in your baby's nursery will be something along the lines of teddy bears or another type of animal, create little paw prints out of stencils and have fun leaving a trail of prints all around the room. If the furniture is light colored enough, you could even stencil prints there as well, making a trail going up the shelves of a bookcase or over the top of a dresser and down the other side.

You can also be rather creative using paint as well by choosing a few complementary colors, and a couple of ordinary sponges and some glaze to finish the look. Combine colors together and experiment with different size sponges, or even take a few pieces of newspaper rolled together in a tube or crumpled up into a ball, dip it into the paint and then roll across the wall for a really different look.

While bold colors are indeed fun, cheerful and happy, you'll also want to make sure the room is soothing and will have a calming effect on baby, so reserve the brightest of colors for the accents or the smaller elements within the room rather than on the walls, carpeting, or drapes. If you had your heart set on including all the colors of the rainbow, paint only one wall in stripes of each of those colors, but mix the paint with a glaze first and slightly overlap each of the stripes so that they appear to softly blend into one another.

Shadowboxes are wonderful choices for displaying just about anything you could think of and also can be made from a few pieces of wood and some stain or paint. If you're making your own, be sure to include several different sized compartments or sections, giving you the ability to display a variety of objects. For the smallest sections, include the lock of hair from baby's first haircut, and the largest could eventually be filled with their artwork or special achievements from school.

Instead of the usual carpeting, consider hardwood floors with an area rug that can be cleaned if needed, or even completely changed as baby grows into the toddler years and beyond. There are even throw and area rugs that serve double duty as they're designed to be educational and feature things such as the ABC's or different shapes and animals for children to learn from.

Whatever you decide to decorate the nursery with, or whatever colors and accents you choose, the results are sure to be wonderful as you'll have a great sense of accomplishment from designing it yourself and putting a part of your own personality and creativity into your beloved baby's nursery. we do hope these ideas will help you.
